The House of Representatives approved legislation that would delay the pending cuts in Medicare reimbursement rates for physicians. Under the sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula, physicians would see a 24.7 percent cut in Medicare reimbursement beginning January 1, 2012. The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act, passed by the House on Tuesday, would temporarily delay this cut until 2014. The House bill also
provides a 1 percent Medicare payment increase to physicians in 2012 and 2013.
